Currently Intel performance tools developers experimenting with a concept of light-weight easy to install and use tools to get performance overview for a user's application.
Let me introduce Application Performance Snapshot tech preview tool that is available for download from https://software.intel.com/sites/products/snapshots/application-snapshot/.
It is easy to install - unzip the package, has simple command line and html reports to show basic statistics on CPU utilization, memory stalls and FPU utilization (where proper HW counters available to count FLOPs).
Your feedback on usefulness of such kind of tools will be very appreciated!
